A week of landscape photography in the Scottish Highlands, exploring Isle of Skye, Glencoe, and ancient castles in moody, dramatic light.
Scottish Highlands are one of the most photogenic landscapes I keep returning to. The play of moody light through clouds over Glencoe's valleys, the mirror-like reflections on the lochs at dawn, and the dramatic silhouettes of ruined castles all offer endless compositional possibilities. This is landscape photography at its most atmospheric.
Isle of Skye is the centerpiece of the trip, where jagged basalt ridges, fairy pools shimmering in mountain light, and sea cliffs battered by Atlantic winds create a visual feast unlike anywhere else in Europe. I especially love the early mornings here when the mist lingers over the peaks and the light is soft and directional.
We also spend time in the forests and lochside trails of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, where the pace slows down and you learn to read the land rather than rush through it. Scotland rewards the patient photographer who wakes early, embraces the changeable weather, and looks for the light that most people miss.
